The short, glossy, dark green winter needles of the "Variegated Oriental Spruce" are overlaid by butter-yellow new shoots in the spring. This produces a truly dazzling effect and it is easily as showy as most flowering plants. 'Aureospicata' always elicits exciting comments from people when they see it in May.
