Acer platanoides 'Emerald Queen'

Emerald Queen Maple

Acer platanoides ‘Emerald Queen’ is a refined Norway maple valued for its uniform shape, strong central leader, and glossy deep-green foliage. Leaves emerge bright green in spring, mature to a rich emerald green through summer, and turn clear yellow to yellow-orange in fall.

This cultivar develops a dense, symmetrical oval to rounded crown with excellent branch structure, making it more orderly and predictable than the species. Growth is moderate, producing a dependable shade tree with good wind resistance.

‘Emerald Queen’ thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts well to a wide range of soils, including clay and compacted urban soils, provided drainage is adequate. It tolerates heat, wind, pollution, and road salt and is hardy in USDA Zones 4–7.

Mature size:

Width: 35–45 ft

Height: 45–55 ft

Ideal for street trees, parks, campuses, and large residential landscapes, Acer platanoides ‘Emerald Queen’ is prized for its clean form, rich foliage color, and reliable performance.
