Crimson Sentry Norway Maple

Acer platanoides ‘Crimson Sentry’ is a narrow, columnar purple-leaved Norway maple valued for its upright form and rich maroon foliage. Leaves emerge deep burgundy in spring, hold dark color well through summer, and shift to bronze-red tones in fall.

This cultivar maintains a tight, vertical habit with strong branching, making it ideal where space is limited but bold color and shade are desired. It offers the durability of Norway maple with a much smaller footprint than broad-canopied types.

‘Crimson Sentry’ performs well in full sun to partial shade and adapts to a wide range of soils, including clay and compacted urban soils, provided drainage is adequate. It tolerates heat, wind, pollution, and road salt and is hardy in USDA Zones 4–7.
