Hydrangea macrophylla 'Glowing Embers' — commonly called Glowing Embers bigleaf hydrangea — is a deciduous flowering shrub prized for its rich mophead blooms that shift from deep rose-red to reddish-purple depending on soil pH. In alkaline soils the flowers develop stronger red tones, while more acidic soils can deepen them toward purple. Large rounded flower heads bloom in summer against glossy dark green foliage, creating bold contrast in shaded garden settings.
