Iris germanica ‘Before the Storm’ — commonly called tall bearded iris — is a dramatic perennial noted for its exceptionally dark, velvety near-black flowers, among the darkest of all bearded irises. Large ruffled blooms appear in late spring to early summer on sturdy stems above upright blue-green sword-like foliage, creating strong contrast in perennial borders and iris collections.
