Liriope 'Samantha'

Samantha Lilyturf

Liriope muscari ‘Samantha’ (Pink Lilyturf) is an evergreen, clump-forming perennial with narrow, dark green, strap-like foliage and upright spikes of lilac-pink to pink flowers. It is valued for its neat habit, unusual flower color, and use as an edging or groundcover plant. Sources agree it stays mostly in a clump rather than running aggressively.

Type: Perennial
Mature Size: 12–18" W × 10–15" H
USDA Zones: 6a–10b
Form: Clump-forming, arching

Light: Full sun to part shade
Soil / Water: Well-drained, average to humus-rich soils; moderate water, prefers even moisture but tolerates some drought once established
Bloom Time / Length: Mid to late summer into early fall; moderate to long-lasting (about 3–6 weeks)

Wildlife: Bees

Features & Landscape Uses:
Excellent for edging, borders, mass plantings, woodland gardens, and erosion control on banks or slopes. Its pink flower spikes are less common than the usual purple liriope forms, and the dense foliage helps suppress weeds.

Care:
Plant in well-drained soil and water regularly during establishment. Cut back old foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. It is low maintenance once established. There is some inconsistency among sellers about how much it spreads, so I’d treat it as primarily clumping but give it room to fill in gradually.
