Variegated Lilyturf

Liriope muscari ‘Variegata’ (Variegated Lilyturf) is an evergreen perennial with a clump-forming, arching habit, featuring narrow, strap-like green leaves striped with creamy white. In late summer to early fall, short spikes of violet-purple flowers rise above the foliage, sometimes followed by black berries that can persist into winter. This cultivar is valued mainly for its bright variegated foliage and tidy edging habit.

Features & Landscape Uses:
Excellent for edging, borders, mass plantings, and groundcover in sun to partial shade. The variegated foliage brightens darker areas and provides year-round texture. It expands slowly by short stolons but is not considered aggressively spreading like Liriope spicata.

Care:
Cut back old foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Plant in well-drained soil and avoid soggy sites. Best appearance usually comes with regular moisture during establishment and some protection from harsh drying winter winds in colder areas.
