Magnolia acuminata ‘Goldstar’ (Goldstar Magnolia) is a deciduous small tree with a symmetrical, broad upright habit and delicate, spreading branches. It produces lightly fragrant, soft yellow flowers in mid-spring, and some sources note bronzy new foliage as leaves emerge.

Wildlife: Butterflies; bees are a reasonable inference for magnolia flowers, but I found direct support only for butterfly attraction for this cultivar.

Features & Landscape Uses:
Excellent as a specimen or flowering accent tree for smaller landscapes. Its soft yellow flowers, symmetrical branching, and manageable size make it useful where a refined magnolia is wanted without the scale of a large cucumber tree.

Care:
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, and avoid prolonged drought stress. Minimal pruning is usually needed beyond shaping when young.
