Viburnum opulus 'Sterile'
Eastern Snowball Viburnum
Eastern Snowball Viburnum (Viburnum opulus ‘Roseum’, also known as ‘Sterile’) covers its arching branches with rounded flower clusters in spring. The flowers open greenish white, become white, and may blush pink as they age.
Glossy, lobed green leaves fill out the spreading shrub and can develop red autumn tones. The flowers are sterile, so this selection produces no fruit.
Choose sun or partial shade and give the branches room to spread. Watch new growth for aphids.
