Aarburg Norway Spruce

Aarburg Norway Spruce (Picea abies ‘Aarburg’) is an evergreen conifer with dark green needles and an unusually irregular silhouette. Drooping branches and an open framework give it a loose, expressive shape that becomes more distinctive as the tree grows.

Growth is relatively fast, and each specimen develops its own balance of upright structure and hanging branches. Its character is easiest to appreciate as a single focal plant, with enough space around it to see the outline through the seasons.

Plant in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. As with other Norway spruces, a relatively cool growing environment suits it best. Allow for continued growth beyond its first decade and avoid placing it where frequent size reduction would be necessary.
