Abies lasiocarpa var. arizonica ‘Compacta’ is a compact, slow-growing selection of Arizona corkbark fir with a dense, symmetrical habit. It features short, thick needles coated in a strong silvery-blue to blue-gray glaze, giving the plant excellent color year-round. The foliage is soft yet full, creating a refined, high-quality texture.

Naturally well-branched, ‘Compacta’ forms a tight pyramidal to broadly conical shape, remaining smaller and more controlled than the species with little to no pruning required. As it matures, it may develop the characteristic light gray to chalky white bark typical of corkbark firs, adding additional ornamental interest

Best grown in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soils, it prefers cooler climates and consistent moisture. Hardy in USDA Zones 4–7, ‘Compacta’ is an excellent choice for specimen planting, mixed conifer beds, foundation plantings, and collector gardens, valued for its compact size, strong blue color, and clean, uniform habit.
