Acer campestre ‘Miyabei’ is a distinctive selection of hedge maple valued for its large, thick, glossy leaves and strong, upright growth habit. Compared to typical Acer campestre, the foliage is noticeably broader and more substantial, giving the tree a bold, healthy appearance through the growing season. Leaves emerge fresh green in spring and turn clear yellow to yellow-orange in fall.

‘Miyabei’ develops a dense, rounded to upright crown with excellent branch structure and good wind resistance. It is slower growing than many maples but extremely durable, making it a reliable long-term landscape tree.

This cultivar thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts well to a wide range of soils, including clay and alkaline soils, provided drainage is adequate. It is tolerant of heat, drought once established, urban pollution, and pruning. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8.
