Chiba Japanese Maple

A compact, dwarf Japanese maple valued for its neat, upright, rounded form and reliable garden performance. Slow growing, reaching 4–5 ft tall and 3–4 ft wide over time. Leaves emerge fresh green, sometimes with reddish margins in spring, maturing to solid green in summer before turning yellow to orange in fall.

Well suited for small gardens, foundation plantings, containers, and bonsai. Performs best in morning sun with afternoon shade, in moist, well-drained soil. An excellent choice where a refined, low-maintenance maple is desired without overwhelming the space.

Like most Japanese maples, it is moderately to highly attractive to deer, especially new spring growth. In areas with deer pressure, browsing can cause significant damage.
