Acer platanoides ‘Globosum’ is a distinctive globe-shaped Norway maple valued for its naturally round crown and compact form. Commonly grafted on a standard, it forms a dense, symmetrical ball of foliage with little to no pruning required.

Leaves are broad and five-lobed, emerging bright green in spring, maturing to deep green through summer, and turning yellow to yellow-orange in fall. Because the crown remains compact, it provides shade without overwhelming nearby structures.

‘Globosum’ thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts well to a wide range of soils, including clay and urban conditions, provided drainage is adequate. It tolerates heat, wind, pollution, and road salt and is hardy in USDA Zones 4–7.
