Acer griseum × maximowiczianum is a rare hybrid maple combining the celebrated exfoliating bark of paperbark maple (Acer griseum) with the greater vigor and adaptability of Acer maximowiczianum. It offers outstanding four-season interest with improved growth and landscape performance.

The bark peels in attractive cinnamon- to copper-brown curls, often more freely and at a younger age than standard paperbark maple. Leaves are trifoliate, emerging green in spring, remaining clean through summer, and turning vivid orange to red in fall.

This hybrid develops an upright to rounded habit, typically more robust and faster growing than Acer griseum while retaining its refined appearance. It is an excellent choice where paperbark maple is desired but greater size or vigor is beneficial.

It performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soils. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8.
