Acer japonicum ‘Meigetsu’ is an outstanding fullmoon maple renowned for its exceptionally bright and consistent fall color. Large, rounded, softly lobed leaves emerge fresh green in spring, remain clean and lush through summer, and transform in autumn to brilliant shades of fiery red, orange, and crimson, often coloring earlier and more evenly than many other cultivars.

The tree develops a graceful, upright to rounded habit with layered branching and a refined, balanced structure. Compared to some more delicate maples, ‘Meigetsu’ has slightly thicker leaves and good sun tolerance, contributing to its reliability in the landscape.

‘Meigetsu’ grows best in partial shade, though it tolerates more sun in cooler climates. It prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soils and benefits from protection from hot afternoon sun and drying winds. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8.
