Acer saccharum ‘Green Column’ is a narrow, upright sugar maple selected for its columnar form and classic sugar maple foliage, making it an excellent choice where space is limited but a native shade tree look is desired. It offers the durability and longevity of sugar maple in a much more space-efficient habit.

Spring foliage emerges bright green, maturing to rich medium green through summer with a dense, vertical canopy. In fall, ‘Green Column’ delivers brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and fiery orange-red, typical of sugar maple, with reliable color in cooler climates. The branching structure is tight and upright, maintaining a clean profile.

‘Green Column’ performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Like most sugar maples, it does not tolerate poorly drained or compacted soils and performs best away from heavy urban stress.
