Hosta Cinnamon Sticks

Cinnamon Sticks Hosta

Hosta 'Cinnamon Sticks' — a medium-sized hosta prized for its narrow arching green leaves carried on striking cinnamon-red petioles. The slender foliage forms a graceful fountain-like mound, and the rich reddish stems remain highly visible beneath the leaves, giving the plant unusual color contrast in shade gardens. Lavender flowers rise above the foliage in midsummer, adding soft seasonal interest.

Type: Perennial

Mature Size:
Width: 24–30 in
Height: 14–18 in (to ~24 in in flower)

USDA Zones: 3a–8b

Form: Graceful, arching mound

Light: Partial shade to full shade; morning sun tolerated

Soil: Moist, well-drained soils rich in organic matter

Water: Moderate; prefers evenly moist soil

Wildlife: Attracts hummingbirds and bees

Features & Landscape Uses:
Its red stems and narrow foliage make it excellent for woodland gardens, edging, mixed hosta collections, and containers. Provides strong contrast with broad-leaved blue or gold hostas and fine-textured ferns.

Care:
Maintain consistent moisture and mulch annually to keep roots cool. Morning sun can intensify stem color, but avoid strong afternoon heat. Remove spent flower stalks after bloom and clean old foliage in early spring. Divide mature clumps every few years if needed. 🌿
