Profusion Crabapple

Malus ‘Profusion’ is a deciduous flowering crabapple tree with reddish-purple new foliage that matures bronze-green, deep rose-red to violet-red spring flowers, and glossy dark red fruit that often persists into winter. It has a rounded to spreading habit and is widely valued for combining strong flower color, colored foliage, fruit display, and good disease resistance.

Features & Landscape Uses: Excellent as a specimen tree, lawn tree, or accent tree where strong spring flower color and persistent fruit are wanted. Its purple-tinted emerging foliage adds another season of interest, and it has long been considered one of the better red-flowering crabapples for ornamental use.

Care: Plant in full sun with good air circulation and well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, then during dry spells as needed. Crabapples perform best with pruning limited to shaping and removal of dead, damaged, or crossing branches.
