Pinus Densiflora Burkes
Burke's Variegated Red Japanese Pine
Pinus densiflora ‘Burke’s Red Variegated’
Burke’s Red Variegated Japanese Red Pine has cream-yellow bands across its green needles. Seen from the shoot tip, those bands form rings around the reddish bud.
The variegation remains visible throughout the year and can deepen in cold weather. Its upright, broadening crown needs room to develop as a landscape tree.
Plant in full sun with well-drained soil. Water the root zone during establishment and leave room for the branches to develop.
Approximate garden size
• Width: 15 ft; larger with age
• Height: 20 ft; larger with age
These are planning estimates for an established garden plant, commonly reached in 10–25 years, rather than final mature limits.

• Hardy to USDA Zone 5; local summer conditions also affect suitability.
