Pinus Heldreichii Smidtii

Bosnian Pine

Pinus heldreichii ‘Smidtii’
Smidtii Bosnian Pine is a miniature conifer with tightly packed dark green needles. Very short growth keeps the rounded plant dense and gives it a firm, finely detailed surface.

Its naturally compact shape needs little shaping. Place it near a path, in a rock garden or in a suitable container where neighboring plants will not hide it.

Plant in full sun with well-drained soil. Water the root zone during establishment and leave room for the branches to develop. A site with cool summers generally suits this pine better than prolonged hot, humid conditions.

Approximate garden size
• Width: 1.5 ft; larger with age
• Height: 1.5 ft; larger with age
These are planning estimates for an established garden plant, commonly reached in 10–25 years, rather than final mature limits.

Hardiness
• Hardy to USDA Zone 5; local summer conditions also affect suitability.
