Pinus Mugo Slowmound
Slowmound Mugo Pine
Pinus mugo ‘Slowmound’
Slowmound Mugo Pine creates a broad, dense mound of dark green needles. Its numerous buds add texture at the shoot tips, while the even foliage gives the plant a settled outline through winter.
Growth remains compact, making it useful near the front of a planting. Young plants are small, but older specimens need more ground space as the mound expands.
Plant in full sun with well-drained soil. Water the root zone during establishment and leave room for the branches to develop. A site with cool summers generally suits this pine better than prolonged hot, humid conditions.
Approximate garden size
• Width: 6 ft; larger with age
• Height: 4 ft; larger with age
These are planning estimates for an established garden plant, commonly reached in 10–25 years, rather than final mature limits.

• Hardy to USDA Zone 2; local summer conditions also affect suitability.
