Brandywine Crabapple

Malus ‘Brandywine’ is a deciduous flowering crabapple tree with fragrant double rose-pink spring flowers, dark green foliage often tinged wine-red, and chartreuse to yellow-green fruit that matures in fall. It has an upright, broad-rounded habit and is especially valued for its full double bloom and showy seasonal display.

Features & Landscape Uses: Excellent as a specimen tree, lawn tree, or accent tree where a fuller double-flowered look is wanted. The fruit adds fall interest, but it does not usually persist, so some cleanup may be needed beneath the tree. It is best used where the bloom display can be appreciated up close.

Care: Plant in full sun with good air circulation and well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, then during dry spells as needed. Because disease resistance is weaker than many newer crabapple cultivars, it is best sited where foliage can dry quickly and where cedar-apple rust pressure is not severe.
