Pinus Palustris
Longleaf Pine
Longleaf Pine (Pinus palustris) is a large evergreen tree with long, flexible needles gathered in groups of three. Its open crown gives established trees a light, airy silhouette despite their considerable height.
Young plants begin with a low, grass-like stage while their root system develops. Once upward growth starts, the tree needs a generous site where its spreading crown and deep roots can develop without repeated transplanting.
Grow in full sun with acidic soil that drains well. Choose the permanent position while the plant is young.
