PINus PARVIFOLIA AOI
Aoi Japanese White Pine
Pinus parviflora ‘Aoi’
Aoi Japanese White Pine has green needles with silver-blue surfaces that brighten its upright crown. Firm branches, gray bark and small cones add detail beyond the foliage color.
The slender tree creates a strong structural accent while retaining the open character associated with Japanese pines. Give it space for its branches to remain distinct.
Plant in full sun with well-drained soil. Water the root zone during establishment and leave room for the branches to develop. A site with cool summers generally suits this pine better than prolonged hot, humid conditions.
Approximate garden size
• Width: 8 ft; larger with age
• Height: 15 ft; larger with age
These are planning estimates for an established garden plant, commonly reached in 10–25 years, rather than final mature limits.
