Pinus Ponderosa Dixie
Dixie Western Yellow Pine
Dixie Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa ‘Dixie’) combines the long green needles of ponderosa pine with a dwarf, rounded framework. Needles appear in bundles of three, giving the compact crown a bold, bristly texture.
The selection originated in a witch’s-broom mutation, which accounts for its close branching. Its broad globe can act as a strong low focal point among finer-leaved plants or other small conifers.
Choose a sunny position with soil that drains freely. Water during establishment and leave enough room for the branches to develop without crowding.
