Pinus Schwerinii Wiethorst
Wiethorst Hybrid Pine
Pinus x schwerinii ‘Wiethorst’
Wiethorst Hybrid Pine combines very long, fine needles with an airy evergreen canopy. Contrasting needle surfaces and resinous cones add detail to its open, graceful branches.
This hybrid between Eastern and Himalayan white pines can become a substantial garden tree. Give it a spacious specimen position and allow for continued height and spread.
Plant in full sun with well-drained soil. Water the root zone during establishment and leave room for the branches to develop.
Approximate garden size
• Width: 15 ft; larger with age
• Height: 20 ft; larger with age
These are planning estimates for an established garden plant, commonly reached in 10–25 years, rather than final mature limits.
Hardiness
• Hardy to USDA Zone 4; local summer conditions also affect suitability.
