Pinus Thunbergii 'Ogi'
Japanese Black Pine
Ogi Japanese Black Pine (Pinus thunbergii ‘Ogi’) is an unusual selection with dark green needles and irregular growth. Some branches develop flattened, crest-like sections, known as fasciations, which give parts of the plant a fan-shaped appearance.
These changes in growth are its main curiosity, so it is best placed where the branches can be inspected. Its individual form suits a collector’s garden more than a planting that requires a perfectly uniform outline.
Choose a sunny position with soil that drains freely. Water during establishment and leave enough room for the branches to develop without crowding.
