Pulsatilla Vulgaris, Aka. Anemone Pulsatilla
Pasque Flower
Pasque Flower pairs cup-shaped violet-purple flowers with finely divided foliage covered in soft, silky hairs. The furry texture is especially noticeable as new stems and leaves develop.
After flowering, rounded clusters of feathery seedheads continue the display. This is a plant to place where both the flowers and the small details of its foliage can be appreciated throughout their development.
Choose sun or partial shade and humus-rich soil with good drainage. Maintain moisture during hot weather, and leave established roots undisturbed. The plant generally performs better in cooler conditions than in prolonged summer heat.
