Strawberry Begonia spreads through slender red runners, each capable of forming a new plantlet. Rounded to heart-shaped leaves show pale veins against green surfaces, with reddish-purple color beneath.
Loose stems of white flowers rise above the foliage in late spring and early summer. Their unequal petals give the blooms a delicate, irregular outline. The foliage forms a low, evergreen to semi-evergreen cover and can also trail from a container.
Use moist, organic-rich soil that drains well in partial or full shade. Indoors, give bright indirect light. At the cold end of its range, choose a sheltered position and provide winter mulch.
