Louisa Crabapple

Malus ‘Louisa’ is a deciduous flowering tree with a graceful weeping habit, fragrant true pink spring flowers that open from red buds, glossy dark green foliage, and small yellow fruit often blushed rose that persists well into winter. Its cascading branches give it a soft fountain-like form, making it one of the best crabapples for a specimen planting where the branch structure can be appreciated.

Features & Landscape Uses: Excellent as a specimen tree, patio accent, or focal point in smaller landscapes. The pink flowers, yellow fruit, glossy foliage, and pendulous branching give it strong multi-season interest. It is also noted for generally good disease resistance, though apple scab resistance is usually rated only fair.

Care: Plant in full sun with good air circulation and well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, then during dry spells as needed. Prune mainly to maintain structure and remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches.
