Acanthus ‘Bear’s Breeches’ is a bold, architectural perennial prized for its large, deeply lobed, glossy green leaves and dramatic upright flower spikes. The foliage forms a dense basal clump that provides strong texture in the landscape even when not in bloom.

In late spring to early summer, tall spikes rise above the foliage, bearing hooded white to pale pink flowers accented with purple bracts, adding height and ornamental interest. The flowers are long-lasting and excellent for cutting.

Bear’s Breeches thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil, tolerating drought once established. It performs especially well in warmer climates but can be grown in cooler regions with winter protection. Hardy in USDA Zones 6–10.
