Molten Lava Crabapple

Malus ‘Molazam’ (MOLTEN LAVA®) is a deciduous flowering crabapple tree with a broad weeping habit, white spring flowers, glossy green foliage, and small orange-red fruit that persists well into fall and often winter. It is widely regarded as one of the better weeping crabapples because of its strong ornamental display and very good overall disease resistance.

Features & Landscape Uses: Excellent as a specimen tree, patio accent, or focal point where the pendulous branching can be appreciated. The white flowers and persistent orange-red fruit give it strong multi-season interest, and it is especially valued for excellent resistance to apple scab, fire blight, and powdery mildew, though cedar-apple rust resistance is usually rated only fair.

Care: Plant in full sun with good air circulation and well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, then during dry spells as needed. Prune mainly to maintain structure and remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches.
