Phlox Paniculata 'White Flame'

Garden Phlox White Flame,Dwarf Garden Phlox

Phlox paniculata ‘White Flame’ is a compact herbaceous perennial garden phlox in the FLAME™ Series, grown for its dwarf, upright habit and fragrant white flower clusters. It stays much shorter than many traditional tall garden phlox, making it useful for front borders, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, containers, edging, and small perennial beds. Great Lakes Landscape Supply lists it as a dwarf, upright, clumping garden phlox with fragrant white flowers and good mildew resistance.

Type: Herbaceous perennial
Mature Size: 12–14 in. wide x 12–18 in. tall
USDA Zones: 4a–8b
Form: Compact upright clump
Light: Full sun to part sun
Soil / Water: Fertile, moist, well-drained soil; keep evenly moist during summer heat and drought
Bloom Time / Length: Mid to late summer; about 4–6 weeks
Wildlife: Attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds

Features & Landscape Uses: Compact dwarf habit; fragrant white flower clusters; good mildew resistance; sturdy short stems; useful in borders, mass plantings, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, containers, edging, and cut-flower plantings. PlantingTree notes that White Flame stays compact, works well in small spaces and containers, and is attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds.

Care: Plant with good spacing for air circulation. Grow in rich, moderately fertile, medium-moisture, well-drained soil. Water during dry spells, mulch to keep the root zone cool, and avoid overhead watering to reduce powdery mildew issues. Deadhead spent flower clusters to keep plants neat and encourage continued bloom. Missouri Botanical Garden gives these same general cultural recommendations for garden phlox
