Epimedium × rubrum — commonly called Red Barrenwort — is a durable, shade-loving perennial valued for its delicate, red and yellow spurred flowers that appear in mid-spring, held just above the foliage. Heart-shaped leaves emerge with reddish-bronze tones in spring, mature to soft green, and often develop rich red highlights again in fall, forming a slowly spreading, attractive groundcover. Its fine texture and multi-season foliage interest make it ideal for woodland gardens and dry shade.
