Acer palmatum ‘Elmwood’ is a classic, reliable upright red Japanese maple valued for its strong structure, good cold tolerance, and dependable color. New growth emerges deep red to burgundy in spring and holds a dark red-purple tone through much of the summer, especially in cooler climates or with light afternoon shade.
