Pink Muhly Grass

Muhlenbergia capillaris ‘Regal Mist’ — often listed as Regal Mist® Pink Muhly Grass or Muhlenbergia capillaris ‘Lenca’ — is a warm-season ornamental perennial grass with fine, glossy green foliage that forms a rounded, fountain-like clump. In late summer into fall, airy rose-pink to pink-red flower panicles rise above the foliage, creating the soft “pink cloud” effect that makes pink muhly so popular. The foliage and seed heads fade to tan in winter, giving light texture after bloom.

It is especially effective when planted in groups where the pink plumes can catch backlighting from the sun. Best bloom occurs in full sun and well-drained soil.

Care:
Cut back old foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Avoid overly wet or poorly drained soils, especially in winter. Water regularly during establishment, then only during extended dry periods. Divide in spring if clumps become crowded or thin in the center.
