Rudbeckia Subtomentosa 'Henry Eilers'
Henry Eilers Sweet Coneflower, Sweet Coneflower
Henry Eilers Sweet Coneflower (Rudbeckia subtomentosa ‘Henry Eilers’) gives the familiar yellow daisy an unusual silhouette. Its narrow petals resemble little rolled quills, arranged around a brown cone like the spokes of a small wheel.
The flowers rise on tall, branching stems in late summer and early fall. Softly hairy green leaves have a faint sweet scent, adding a quieter detail beneath the showy flower heads. Give this substantial perennial space among other tall border plants.
Choose a sunny site with fertile, evenly moist soil and good drainage. Support the taller flowering stems if they begin to lean.
