Solidago Sphacelata 'Golden Fleece'
Autumn Goldenrod, Golden Fleece Goldenrod
Golden Fleece Goldenrod brings yellow sprays to the border as summer gives way to fall. Its branched flowering stems rise above a low base of heart-shaped, blue-green leaves.
The foliage can remain through mild winters and gradually makes an effective groundcover. Flowers attract bees and butterflies, including visitors passing through the garden in autumn. The compact height makes the selection useful near the front of a planting.
Grow in sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. Established plants tolerate dry periods. Cutting back spent flowers can encourage another flush.
