Syringa George Eastman
George Eastman
George Eastman Lilac (Syringa pubescens subsp. julianae ‘George Eastman’) carries small dark green leaves on slender branches. Upright flower sprays bring a deep purple-pink color and fragrance in late spring and early summer.
The shrub grows slowly and keeps a finer texture than many larger lilacs. Give it a sheltered position within a mixed border, allowing its branch pattern and scented flowers to remain visible.
Give it fertile soil that drains well and is neutral to alkaline. A sunny position supports the strongest flowering; water while the roots establish and mulch without burying the stems.
