Redgold nectarine is a deciduous fruit tree known for pink mid-spring bloom followed by large, glossy red fruit with golden-yellow, firm, juicy freestone flesh. The fruit has a rich sweet-tart flavor and is good for fresh eating, baking, canning, and freezing. It is often sold as a dwarf or semi-dwarf tree depending on rootstock, making it useful for home orchards and smaller edible landscapes. Stark Bro’s lists it as self-pollinating with an August harvest season.

Features & Landscape Uses:
Good choice for home orchards, edible landscapes, sunny yards, and small fruit plantings where a productive freestone nectarine is wanted. ‘Redgold’ is widely grown because the fruit is large, flavorful, firm, and stores well. Grandpa’s Orchard notes that it ripens later in the season and is not recommended where bacterial spot is a serious problem.

Care:
Plant in full sun with good air circulation. Prune annually in late winter or very early spring to maintain an open-center shape, remove dead or crossing branches, and improve sunlight penetration. Thin young fruit after fruit set for better fruit size and to reduce limb breakage. Watch for peach leaf curl, brown rot, bacterial spot, aphids, scale, and peach tree borers.
