SunGlo nectarine is a deciduous fruit tree grown for its pink spring flowers and large, smooth-skinned nectarines. The fruit is bright red to red-orange with firm, juicy yellow flesh and a sweet, classic nectarine flavor. It is a freestone nectarine, making it good for fresh eating, freezing, canning, and baking. It is commonly sold as a dwarf or semi-dwarf tree depending on rootstock, but the cultivar itself is not a true genetic dwarf. Stark Bro’s lists it as ripening in early August, while other nursery sources describe it as a mid-season nectarine.

It is self-fertile/self-pollinating, so a second nectarine is not required, though another peach or nectarine nearby may improve yield. One Green World lists mature size around 10–12 ft. and notes bearing may begin about 2–3 years after planting.

Care:
Plant in full sun with good air circulation. Prune annually in late winter or very early spring to maintain an open-center shape, remove crossing or damaged branches, and encourage strong fruiting wood. Thin young fruit after fruit set for better size and to reduce limb breakage. Watch for peach leaf curl, brown rot, bacterial spot, aphids, scale, and peach tree borers.
