Rhododendron Maximum Rosebay
Rosebay Rhododendron
Rosebay rhododendron (Rhododendron maximum) is a large evergreen shrub with leathery dark green leaves. Clusters of white to pink flowers, often marked inside with greenish or orange spots, appear later than many spring-flowering rhododendrons.
The broad leafy framework gives woodland plantings substantial year-round structure. Older specimens can exceed small-garden dimensions, so allow room for the branches and shallow root system to spread.
Grow in partial shade with acidic, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil. Provide dappled shade and protect the shallow roots from heat and drought.
