Rhododendron Smirnowii
Smirnow's Rhododendron
Smirnow’s Rhododendron (Rhododendron smirnowii) carries leathery, dark green leaves with a soft felted covering beneath. The underside begins whitish and becomes pale brown, while young shoots also show a light covering of hairs.
Clusters of purplish-rose flowers have broad, frilled edges. The combination of bold leaves and softly textured new growth gives this evergreen shrub interest beyond its flowering display.
