‘Monarch Of Illinois’ Baldcypress
Fast growing deciduous conifer that reaches 40-50 ft tall and 50-100 ft wide in upright, pyramidal growth habit. It has pale green, needle-like leaves that turn an outstanding coppery red in fall before dropping. Flaky, reddish gray barks add interest dimension in the landscape during winter. Small seeds serve as food for birds and squirrels. Deer resistant. Full sun intensifies foliage color but tolerates partial shade condition. It prefers rich, acidic, humusy soil that drains well. Drought tolerant. Ideal for screen planting, specimen and street tree.
