Peony Raspberry Charm

Raspberry Charm Peony

Paeonia ‘Raspberry Charm’ is a hybrid herbaceous peony with glossy green foliage and large raspberry-pink to raspberry-coral, semi-double flowers with golden-yellow stamens. It blooms in late spring to early summer and is valued for its vivid color, strong stems, fresh fragrance, and excellent cut-flower quality. The American Peony Society lists ‘Raspberry Charm’ in its peony registry, and Cricket Hill Garden describes it as a Wissing/Klehm 1985 hybrid with 4–7 inch semi-double raspberry-coral flowers on sturdy stems.

Type: Herbaceous perennial
Mature Size: 30–36 in. wide × 30–36 in. tall
USDA Zones: 3a–8b
Form: Upright, rounded clump with strong flowering stems
Light: Full sun to part shade
Soil / Water: Fertile, well-drained soil; moderate water, especially during establishment and bud development
Bloom Time / Length: Late spring to early summer; usually 7–10 days of main bloom, longer in cool weather
Wildlife: Flowers may attract bees and butterflies; generally deer and rabbit resistant

Features & Landscape Uses:
Excellent for perennial borders, cottage gardens, cutting gardens, formal beds, foundation plantings, and specimen use. The bright raspberry-coral flowers pair well with white peonies, iris, salvia, nepeta, catmint, allium, hardy geraniums, roses, and ornamental grasses. Peony Shop describes it as a reliable herbaceous hybrid with clean foliage and excellent stem strength.

Care:
Plant crowns shallowly, with eyes about 1–2 inches below the soil surface. Provide full sun, good air circulation, and avoid soggy soil. Stems are generally strong, but light support can still help during heavy rain or wind. Deadhead after bloom, leave foliage through summer to feed the roots, then cut stems to the ground after frost.
