Peony Salmon Glow

Salmon Glow Peony

Paeonia ‘Salmon Glow’ is a hybrid herbaceous peony with deep green foliage and large, bowl-shaped, semi-double flowers in bright salmon-pink to coral-pink tones with golden-yellow stamens. It blooms in late spring to early summer and is valued for its vivid color, upright habit, and collector appeal. The American Peony Society lists ‘Salmon Glow’ as a medium-height, upright plant with many stems, and other peony references describe it as having salmon-pink bowl-shaped blooms with bright yellow centers.

Type: Herbaceous perennial
Mature Size: 24–36 in. wide × 28–36 in. tall
USDA Zones: 3a–8b
Form: Upright, rounded clump with many flowering stems
Light: Full sun to part shade
Soil / Water: Fertile, well-drained soil; moderate water, especially during establishment and bud development
Bloom Time / Length: Late spring to early summer; usually 7–10 days of main bloom, longer in cool weather
Wildlife: Flowers may attract bees; generally deer and rabbit resistant

Features & Landscape Uses:
Excellent for perennial borders, cutting gardens, cottage gardens, formal beds, foundation plantings, and specimen use. The warm salmon-pink flower color pairs well with white peonies, blue salvia, catmint, iris, allium, nepeta, hardy geraniums, roses, and ornamental grasses. Its open, semi-double form also gives good access to the yellow stamens, making the flowers useful for bees when in bloom.

Care:
Plant crowns shallowly, with eyes about 1–2 inches below the soil surface. Provide full sun, good air circulation, and avoid soggy soil. Deadhead after flowering, leave foliage through summer to feed the roots, then cut stems to the ground after frost. Peonies generally prefer being planted in fall and can live for decades when placed in suitable soil and left undisturbed.
