Snowbelle Mockorange

Philadelphus × hybridus ‘Snowbelle’ is a compact deciduous mock orange shrub grown for its intensely fragrant, double white flowers that bloom heavily in late spring to early summer. The rounded, arching habit and deep green foliage make it useful near patios, walkways, foundations, shrub borders, cottage gardens, and low flowering hedges where the citrus-like fragrance can be enjoyed.

Features & Landscape Uses:
Large, double, snow-white flowers with strong mock-orange fragrance; compact size compared with older mock orange varieties; good for smaller landscapes, mixed borders, foundation plantings, fragrant gardens, cottage gardens, informal hedges, and mass plantings. Plant where the arching branches have room to show naturally and where the fragrance can be noticed.

Care:
Prune immediately after flowering, because mock orange blooms on older wood. Remove dead, weak, or crossing stems and thin out some of the oldest canes every few years to keep the shrub vigorous. Avoid heavy late-season pruning, which can reduce next year’s bloom. Provide good drainage; it does not like wet, poorly drained soil.
