Phlox Subulata 'Emerald Blue'

Emerald Blue Creeping Phlox

Emerald Blue Creeping Phlox (Phlox subulata ‘Emerald Blue’) brings a wash of blue-violet flowers to the spring garden. Its fine, blue-green leaves form a close evergreen carpet, with blooms held just above the foliage where their color is easy to appreciate.

The plant grows outward in a low mat, softening the edges of stones, paths and retaining walls. Between flowering seasons, the needlelike foliage provides a quiet green surface that fits comfortably around larger perennials and shrubs.

Choose sun to light shade and soil that drains freely. Sandy or rocky ground suits it well, and established plants tolerate dry periods. A light trim after flowering helps keep the mat tidy and encourages fresh growth.
