Vivid Obedient Plant (Physostegia virginiana ‘Vivid’) carries rich pink, tubular flowers on upright spikes from summer into fall. The closely arranged blooms bring color above the green foliage at a time when many earlier perennials are finishing their display.

This compact selection gives a border a clear vertical accent without the height of taller obedient plants. Its flowers attract hummingbirds and other pollinators and can be cut for arrangements. Clumps can spread, so it is useful in plantings where that growth has room to develop.

Choose full sun to light shade and moist, well-drained soil. Provide water in dry periods and divide or reduce spreading clumps when they approach neighboring plants. It fits particularly well in informal borders and larger pollinator plantings.
